National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
April 30 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm CDT
On April 30, the Round Rock Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. At our Spring event last year, we collected more than 1,000 lbs. of prescription drugs!
To dispose of your prescription medications, simply drive through the parking lot of the Round Rock PD at 2701 N. Mays Street. The service is free, socially-distant, and anonymous, no questions asked.
Examples of Materials Accepted: Prescription medicines, Over-the counter medications, cough syrup, and pet medications
Examples of Materials NOT Accepted: Needles, syringes, thermometers, IV bags, medical device, and personal care products
Take-back programs are the safest method for disposing of prescription drugs because they are organized and closely monitored by local, state, and federal government agencies. These agencies ensure the proper disposal of the drugs in accordance with federal law.
This event is for Round Rock residents. This program is not intended for medical businesses to dispose of medications. Medical businesses are regulated by DEA in how they dispose of medications. Need to dispose of medications but can’t make this event? Click HERE for year round drop off locations.
